Hey everyone,

 

The new curation feature is very popular with over two million votes and nearly 50 000 comments so far. The quality of the comments are now much better than in the beginning thanks to more moderation but we want to raise the level even more. The way to do this is to make a learning material about different aspects of photography and for experienced photographers to share their knowledge. Therefore we want to create tutorials for things like composition, lighting, colors, sharpness, originality, story and different photographic genres and techniques. We have a unique knowledge base here on 1x with so many experienced and very talented photographers.

 

The target audience for these tutorials are mainly beginners but I think they will be very interesting for others to read as well. The idea is to learn about photography to be able to write better comments and take better decisions in curation, to learn how to analyze photos and also to get inspiration and develop as a photographer.

 

If anyone is interested in helping out with this project, please let me know. You will be credited as one of the authors of each tutorial you help out with.

It is a noble idea. We do not want to just win ourselves, but help every one win.

 

We can start with general guide lines or "rules." That can be listed, better with examples. We will also need to go further into the creativity areas. Eventually we want to "forget" the guide lines but develop an aesthetic instinct. We need more examples for that.

 

I suggestion that, in addition to pictures from masters, we use published pictures on this site as good examples and talk about why they are good and inspiring. The discussions should be more detailed and advanced than those made in curation, because the purpose is educational now.

 

I think it is a good idea and I'd love to help if possible. Would the tutorials be evaluated and selected by 1X?

I also think it would be nice from 1X if the authors of the selected ones could get, for example, some extra points as a recognition...
